Kaash - The Wish
A 2d animated short film concept focusing on concept art, world building, character design, story writing, storyboarding, and animation.
This is a horror comedy drama exploring the teen and young Adult mindset. this is a story of a girl who feels that no one understands her and it will be better if everyone was like her instead. After an argument with her dad she wishes the same and her world transforms.
Story
The story is based on an Indian household comprising of a mom, a dad and three children. The oldest kid is the main character. I have worked on multiple versions of the storyboard and animatics exploring the right timing and feel of the theme for a 3 min film. The visual theme of the film is horror which is visible through the dull environment with prime focus on the night and moon. The moon plays the role of the supernatural power which makes the main character's wish come true.
Character Design
The character design is based on the typical that I have seen around me, a dad who wear as less clothes as possible a clingy sister, a mischievous brother and a house wife mother. The characters are faces are based on basic shapes and kids are a combination of their mom and dad. The biggest challenge in this project was showing the age of characters visually. which took me some time and observation to achieve.
Below I have added the character design process, final storyboard for first two sequence and the final complete rough storyboard.
